California Proposition 65:  What you need to know and what really matters 

Renee M. Kalmes, MSPH, CIH, is a Principal Scientist at Exponent at their Oakland California office.  She is a certified industrial hygienist and with over 25 years of health risk assessment experience. Ms. Kalmes has conducted and directed studies to assess potential exposure to consumer and personal care products including evaluation of lead, phthalates, silica, asbestos, benzene, toluene, cadmium, arsenic, ethyl benzene, formaldehyde and flame retardants.  She has developed sampling protocols to evaluate numerous Proposition 65 claims and assisted clients in developing Proposition 65 compliance programs. Ms. Kalmes has extensive experience in evaluating state and local regulations pertaining to potential community and consumer exposure issues including safer chemical alternative assessments and green chemistry initiatives and has provided exposure assessment and toxicology support for addressing potential consumer product recall claims.  Ms. Kalmes teaches courses on health risk assessment, industrial hygiene and toxicology at the University of California Extension program.

What are the uses of Polymer Concrete in our industry? What are the raw materials (the polymer matrix) and how similar are they are to PCC? What are the fundamental differences. Learn about the manufacturing and mixing equipment, various types of mixing and the difference those process play on quality and cost of production. We will also discuss the Industry Associations and Committees and the rolls they play in steering the Polymer concrete market.

Mark  Yoakum, General Manager of Jensen Composites. Certifications - Certified Composite Technician with additional certifications in Open molding, Closed molding, Compression molding. Member of (ICPIC) International Congress on Polymers In Concrete, Member of ACI 548, (ACMA) American Composites and Manufacturers Association, An active member of Green Composites Council, High Performance Council, Regulatory Steering Committee, Technical Committee and the Utility and Communication Structure Council. Co-Author of the Jensen Composites Polymer Concrete Quality Assurance Manual and have published several articles in the Composites Manufacturing Magazine.

Construction Industry Forecast

 Mike Arnold, Assoc. AIA, of Dodge Data and Analytics will be presenting a California Construction Outlook, 2018-2019. The presentation will cover macro-economic factors impacting the construction industry as a whole, with detailed sector-level breakouts impacting the State of California. We will review the forecast for housing and non-residential construction and a sneak preview of some of the tools Dodge provides for manufacturers and contractors to find work, assess market conditions and integrate that data into their daily sales workflows.

Mike Arnold works with sales and marketing teams at construction businesses on strategies to improve specification performance, generate demand, prioritize opportunity, improve deal flow, and understand and react to changing market dynamics. He has been involved in design and construction for more than 25 years.
