Mohan Bonala has over 23 years of diverse experience in project delivery at Caltrans, with roles in the Division of Engineering Services, HQ Division of Construction, and District 3’s Program/Project & Asset Management Division. As a Project Manager in District 3, he successfully led teams in delivering projects that involved multiple assets. Notable achievements include delivering pavement and drainage rehabilitation projects on I-80 in Placer County and the Auburn roundabout on SR 49. His most fulfilling accomplishment has been managing complex projects while navigating tight funding and scheduling constraints.

Mohan began his Caltrans career in 2001 with DES Geotechnical Services after completing his graduate studies in geotechnical engineering. As a geotechnical design engineer, he contributed to projects in Districts 8 and 11, further broadening his expertise through year-long rotations in Structure Construction on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge and volunteering in the Foundation Testing branch. In 2008, he transitioned to the HQ Division of Construction as a Senior Specialist, where he developed both in-class and eLearning courses, leveraging technology to enhance employee training and engagement. From 2017 to 2019, Mohan served as the Alternative Dispute Resolution Engineer before taking on the role of Project Manager in District 3.
